Oban, often described as the historic gateway to the Highlands and Islands has a long and varied history stretching back to 5000bc.  Surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of Western Europe. Steeped in history and folklore. Oban today is a thriving tourist town serving the islands of Mull, Iona, Barra, Lismore and many other islands on the west coast of Scotland.It also serves as the main market place and fishing port for the surrounding area.

McCaig's Tower, Dunollie Castle, Oban distillery , 10 hole golf course, Atlantis Leisure  for sports and swimming, Ganavan Sands and Cruachan Power Station.

You can try sailing, mountain climbing, diving or fishing in the area. There is a cycle path and lots of forest walks.
